An endocrine disorder in which the cat’s body is unable to produce insulin. May be diagnosed with blood or urine testing.

Physical Symptoms

Increased drinking, increased urination, weight loss.

Cause/Transmission

May be caused by diet; more often, cause is unknown.

Treatment

Consult your veterinarian. Generally, the cat may be placed on medication or insulin replacement treatment.
