A combination of infections affecting the urinary system, especially prevalent in older male cats. If left untreated, some cases may lead to death.
Physical Symptoms
Bloody urine, frequent urination, difficulty urinating, inability to urinate, depression, loss of appetite.
Cause/Transmission
Residue building in the urinary tract or system; occasionally in the form of bladder stones due simply to aging or possibly poor diet. Bacterial infection may or may not be involved.
Treatment
Consult your veterinarian. Generally, some type of medication may be prescribed and often the cat will be placed on a specially formulated diet.
